I tell you what pal, that many people use MS Word for doing word documents these days - bad spelling (NOT WHAT I CLASS AS DYSLEXIA!) is becoming more inherrent. The number of people I know who don't know the difference between there/their/they're or manors and manners (since they're all spelled correctly & MS word knows this, but they are are in fact different).

Having said that, read into linguistics and evolution of language, then look how the English language has changed over the last 100 years alone. I honestly think the internet is helping the english language to progress (and culling a lot of carp words we don't use or spell correctly)... 'lol' is infact in the most current oxford english dictionary. As is 'chav' and 'hoodie'.

It's only 7.21 pm?! I need to slow down on these kronenbourgh blancs

I'm not dyslexic, studied English Language.
My brother is dyslexic, as found to be at infant school, was told in a polite way that, he was too thick to do A'levels in secondary school(he struggled all through school).....then went to college and got a degree.....he certainly had the last laugh

The Their / There thing - LOL, yeah I can never remember or work that one out!! (don't bother explaining - I've heard it all, understand it easily for 5 minutes but nothing sticks!). But I would not call myself dixlecix.

I am also sh#t at maths, but ok on Arithmetic - but nonetheless have a good feel for numbers, especially involving profit and loss. Unfortunately no name for this "condition"

I have no doubt some folk are genuinely dixlescisx but, IMO it is an overused term / overdiagnosed condition to explain both folk who are a bit thick / lazy / lack an ability to concentrate / lack motivation / have p#ss poor teachers or parents (or both).....or are just not so good with language as others......plus it gives teachers / schools / Govt a get out clause for being unable to teach kids to read and write (20% (?) leave primary school without being able to do the 3 "R"'s to the level of.........an 11 year old)....covers up both systemic failings, school failings and Teacher failings.

Dyslexia is far to bigger area to even try and shoehorn into a thread...unless we have 30 odd years to debate it...

I am too!!!

Found out a month before my a-level exams so never stopped me doing things!!!

I don't use it as an excuse, I just get on with life, and got to 18 without it impacting me.... just meant I got a bit extra help at uni, with people reading my work before i submitted.

People may see it as an advantage but never was anything on my context changed just the grammer and arrangment. Which lectures are advised they can't mark down anyway.
