So the question is, should we all stop buying cheap Chinese imports? ...

We must be spending more on fuel now (and food, basically anything that is uses fuel to get or transport) than we are saving on Chinese imports? Its not just your direct fuel costs that have gone up ... this increase in manufacturing/transporting of every day products is hitting you too .. just have a look in the supermarkets/shops!

Kill the industry in China by not buying their goods, world oil demands are met/under control again ... fuel prices will (or at least should) drop and we will get this under control again!!

It'll also help OUR economy ...

I am discouraged on going for rides that last longer than 1 tank of fuel, because of the cost...

I budget ?40 a week for fuel, thats not quite 3 tanks (from full to the light coming on), so I use my bike for commuting only, most of the time. The times I;ve had a quiet week at uni I've been able to "afford" to go out at the weekend

Excellent, that actually coincides with my plan A (massively reduce world population)

I haven't driven my car above 70 for weeks now, the cost of fuel is hurting so much. Even on my bike I'm sticking to 70

well thats me gainfully employed for a while longer then.

I am going to get rid of my Diesel mondeo as i use it for commuting 7/8 miles eah way to work. Its just nor ecconomical anymore to do so. I would be better off fincially with a 1L ford ka or similar.

We have the wifes diesel for longer journys. And that is driven sensably now due to the cost of running it.

For the first time its almost cheeper to use public transport for long journys.

I'm learning to use my legs again, when I remember how to use them I’ll start walking places instead. Hey maybe it's a way to fight the fat and make Brits thin again? Starve us with high food bills and make us walk by making our vehicles too costly to run.
I’ll never take the bus, unless i'm drunk.

I have no choice but use the bus or legs, as i don't have car!. Bus fares are rediculous..theres an bus company that uses old buses in our area, and we use them as they are far cheaper to the same destination as 'first bus'....although these days you get more value for money in a taxi if you share!!! I have started noticing the shopping trip is costing more lately a silly thing like bog roll, I swear has increased by 60p this last 2 months, and since when did 4 pints of milk cost so much! Maybe its because i've had a wage cut and hav to watch the pennies a little more

As for fuel, a year ago travelling down to france, from the fuel light i could fill her up for between £7.50-£8.50, and stand there without staring at the price flying up to know how much it'll be....these days I have to watch the numbers going up as its not so simple to guess. Now, from the fuel light(it only flashes a couple of mins before I finf a station here) to the top....well I won't do that anymore, as out of principal I won't put more than a tenner in her. I reckon it'll cost nearer £12-£14 to fill her in this way now
