What I think's happening isn't that insurance companies are illogical, it's just that their call centre staff are simple drones who do what the computer tells them. And as we all know, computers have minds of their own.
Do they work on a commision basis? So the better deal they give you the less money they get in their pocket.

I have no idea how these insurance call centres work.

some companies work on commission,but thats got nothing to do with what deal we give you.
We have set schemes tha we can put certain bikes/ages/areas etc with and these change from day to day, and we also have a set amount of discount that we can take off certain policies-its not an easy job tbh-so dont blame us, we can only do/offer what the underwriters are saying we can offer.
