Not surprised one iota, most firms,be it insurance, RAC credit/bank cards, all sorts automatically give you renewal of their product now unless you cancel. It is even worse if you have paid by a card as they keep a record of the old transaction and already have all your details.
One of the reasons I prefer to pay by a cheque in the post

Make sure when you cancel the insurance you call ya bank and cancel the direct debit.

My sis-in-law (to be) called her car insurance and cancelled, but they didnt cancel and carried on taking payment unknown to her. She must be like me and never checked her bank statements.

Sent me a letter on the 18th saying that they will automatically renew on the 21st unless i cancel giving 5 days notice...

needless to say, me, impressed, not.

Aha!! Didn't with me. Just gave me a quote and asked if I wanted to renew...which was nice.

They are all similar cheeky peeps. My favourite is the fact that the operatives seem to know little or nothing about bikes.

I was looking for insurance for my new trumpet D675. When telling them the make I got this reply "triumph?, and how are you spelling that?" then the next question was "has it got a sidecar fitted?" I was suprised they didnt ask how many doors it has got !

bennets did the same to me even though I specifically told them not to as they're quote was crap. They said I couldn't do that as there was too much of my policy left but I think if 4 months before the end of a policy I want to give instructions not to renew then that's my right. Won't ever use them again so their loss
