you could be right - all though it would be a shame to keep paying for Sky just for their broadband

Yeah, but it sounds like you are getting free replacements? - still annoying though
[quote=Baph;1562766]Sounds to me like a power transformer issue. Find one of those old small TV shops that are scattered around, they should be able to fix it for £50 or so.

£50! The TV only cost £27

Cheers, sounds like $tevo's suggestion is an upgrade on yours

And as for no luck with TV's, have you tried a different aftershave, or maybe waxing your legs.

See, that's why you're in this situation.

Our £300 TV blew it's LCD controller, which would of cost £380+ to fix. So we spent £700 on a new TV...

You get's what you pay's for!

The first TV in my OP was £800 - It lasted 4 years ish? hence my change of approach.

Ah, we had a change of approach too.

The original TV lasted us 2 years, was an end of line unit and had been on display in the shop (hence getting a fair wedge off the price). We didn't take the extended warranty out because well, it never gets used.

The new one, is covered for 5 years.

£27 for a week's worth of use, sounds like an expensive way to watch TV.

Me £800 / 208 = £3.8
You £300 / 104 = £2.9
£700 / 260 = £2.7

F*** just figured out, Duh, you mean Me just for that one week, yeah don't want to do that again

yeah but selling for spares or repair on ebay I might yet make a profit

£12/month, compared to £27/week. Assuming of course I understand you correctly in that the TV from ebay cost £27 and worked for a week.

What you need is some of my luck with TV's.

First TV, Belo 28" superflat standard TV bought on 2001. Still going, gave it to a mate about 2 years ago.

TV now is a goodmans 27" LCD 1080i Widescreen jobbie. Bought in Jan 2006, touch wood still going although I will be replacing soon with a 1080P 37" LCD baby. I can give you a shout when I sell, it only cost me £400 new so we can work out a deal.
