It gets easier. You get faster, and it all becomes fun!

I have been commting into london for over 10 years now. I remember when i 1st done it. I used to sit there watching all the other bikes fly past etc.

I found that finding the right route can help a lot. My old route when i lived with my parents used to come up the old kent road. 24 sets of traffic lights!! I then took the slightly longer route round with 8 sets of lights and was 20 mins quicker. Stuff like that helps a great deal.

But i can only echo what ahs been said. However, im still very sceptical about listening to music whilst riding in traffic. It may work for some, but not for me, and i like my music.

Viney, that may be the problem - you like it too much and get too distracted

Me, I find Trance is best, for some reason I dont actually listen to it, but it boosts my concentration.

I'm was almost looking forward to riding home - but then wondered why it was dark all of a sudden.....then i saw out the window - what's going on its not even wimbledon!!

although I'm considering getting a set of earphones that block external sounds.
Don't get music on my recommendation if it's going to distract you, but pls do get earplugs.

Stu - ive got some ear plugs now but thanks for the offer.
I think i'm really going to enjoy this commuting lark particularly if I find some nice motorway alternatives..
