Never working on one again. Ever.

The reliability comes more from the fact that they make about 3bhp/liter than any engineering skill...

plus they're ridden twice a year in the blazing sun, and melt at the slightest hint of rain.

A mate of mine is into harleys in big way and with the money he spends on it i wouldn't say there well built especially were electrics are concerned
I also have a friend with a ducati monster had it 12 years and never had a bit of trouble with it i have had my superlight for 7 months again no trouble with it and yes i do use it to go to my work

Then the Harley you owned must have been an exception. In my experience they are similar in reliability now to what the early Ducati's were!

I had a Harley 1340 Evo dyna for about 7 years. At the same time I had a Ducati ST2. I rode the Harley in all weathers, all year round. The only major problem it had when when the rectifier went up in smoke. OK, so the chrome wasn't keen on British winters either, but I wasn't very keen on keeping it clean and it stood outside uncovered most of the time. The Ducati, on the other hand, was extremely unreliable and would break down at the slightest provocation.

One thing is this certainly gives MV more dealers in the US. I can find them occasionally used here, but there's just one dealer in town, it would be nice to find another to shop and compare.
