Yeah, I'm interested in the faired version as well, might test ride the shiver though so that I've got an idea on the engine and handling.

Not too sure why people think that Aprilia's build quality is not good - it's good enough for BMW......

I rode the SL750, SMV 750 and the SXV 4.5 on the same day recently as I have a dealer close by, having signed my life away thought I'd give them all a go

the Shiver (SL750) is a nice machine, comfy, and with enough go, but not significantly faster than an SV650, feels a little heavier to (although light next to the Triumph T'bird), I tried the "3 mode" thing, but to be honest it's a waste of time, more gimick than anything else, engine is a good one and pulls well, I've no idea on durability in the longer term, but it's not to "peaky" so should be ok.

The Dorsoduro (SMV750) is much the same engine wise, but a wee bit narrower and taller, with wider bars, looks better to IMO, of the two I'd probably have it over the Shiver.

The SXV is a different beast, needs to be thrashed a bit more, still gives the fun factor, but I'd guess you're going a fair bit slower when doing it.
bit to much like hard work really, good second bike, but wouldn't want it as my only one.

Cheers Mark.

Cheers Mark,

You'd have thought that with an extra 24 horse, the shiver would have a little more oomph, I'm still tempted to have a test ride.....

Oh it's not slow by any means, it makes about the same power as the T'bird I think (92 bhp), but where as the triumph uses it to just "pull" from anywhere, the Shiver needed the box stiring a bit, I'd say the SV is a bit more "flickable" but a decent bit of counter steering would solve that, just didn't feel it was that much better than the SV really, I guess if you wanted a change but keep the same flavour......

Cheers Mark.

I thought about test riding one. Then I actually saw it in the flesh and thought 'what's the point'. It is an ugly b*tch.

Yeah, not that keen on it's looks either. I'll wait and see what the faired version looks like.
Was going to wait and see what Suzuki do with the SV, but I recon they'll just re-hash the 650 for a few more years and I'm not going to wait that long.....

Its nice and low too, infact I was surprised as how low it was. And it looked as though there was plent of scope to lower it even further.

I guess it's about the useability of the bike. I want to be able to not only mile crunch on it and get slightly more than a 100 miles per fill, but also to have fun on it.
I love V-twins, and IL4's just don't do anything for me. Not interested in litre bikes as they are wasted on me, but just beginning to find the SV lacking in power.
Basically an SV+
