What is scary is that not so long ago this was awesome. What annoys me is that software is so far behind as new hardware comes out every 3-6 months. Crysis for example, even if you bought the highest spec cpu (£1000+) and had two of the latest gfx cards (£800+) it will still be not much better than say something like my machine as the software is not optimised to make the most of the hardware. It's an annoying trend, perhaps the recession will help out here. And the whole Tri-Sli think makes me laugh, why the frak would I spend £1200 just on gfx cards when not one single game out there can utilise this sort of performance. An SLI setup barely gets 20% gain than a single card setup. Things would be better if all developers spent their time developing software, making games multi-threaded (I mean how long have multi-core cpu's been out ffs). The next generation of consoles will finally be able to surpass what the
enthusiast PC can do and for a third of the price. For how long though, we'll see.
