The side light is a standard 12 volt 5 watt bulb you'd find in most cars as side lights. I replaced mine with a blue LED one i "accquired" whilst working at halfords, tbh it makes me a lot more noticeable, you'll struggle to find anything short of LED lights to upgrade to for the side light as its kinda hard to make a little buld like it is any better.

The chav $hit ones basically take a low quality halogen bulb and filter out a bit of everything, leaving you with more blue in the light. Making the light appear hotter (closer to blue end of spectrum, like HIDs tend to look like)
However, because they are taking out the rest, you don't get that to see by. Also the light filtered out has to go somewhere, so it's lost as heat. The osrams and phillips on the other hand are just a better made bulb, they get the light to look closer to blue end of spectrum by creating that sort of light, rather than imitating it. And because they're more efficient, you'll get less heat and more light for the same power.

Hi guys,
Ive just ordered the osram nightbreakers, thought they get the best reviews. Are they ok to fit? Also, the little (parking) light on on my 02 curvy. The 5 Wat/12v, took it out and saw its on of those push fit ones. Was gona replace it with LED one, are the 501 bulbs suitable? cheers |
