The GSXR should be able to carry more speed through the corner on to the straight. By the time the Busa is grabbing back the lead it will be braking earlier because it will be going faster, its heavier so needs to brake earlier and it also how to brake more as it cannot corner as quick. The rest of the track it would be trailing.

busa's great bike but the gixxer would do it on corner speed though busa would give it a damn good thrashing on the straight's no doubt i'd love a busa as my hyperbike/tourer would be great.

? That confuses me? It implies people only buy bikes to go fast on track?

Hmm - i suppose it does in a way - but thats not what i meant. So if the busa is worse round corners than the gixer and not that much faster in a straight line why would people buy one. What does it do better than any other bike? I thought the main reason for buying a hyperbike was speed, but everybody seems to think the gixer is faster.

I'm only askin as i'm thinking about what bike could replace my FZ1 Fazer. I kind of like the idea of a hyper bike like a 'busa or a blackbird, but maybe i should just buy a race rep like everybody else. After all, they are faster, lighter, better handling, and much much prettier.

if you took the limiter off the busa it'd destroy the gixxer top end that's it's main purpose for being.

The Busa is faster in a straight line, but on track a GSX-R1000 is going to be nearer the top end of the revs. The Busa is a lot more flexible throughout the rev range, so in the real world it is faster as not many people ride a GSX-R1000 100% at the top of it's rev range.

But, it is also a very different bike from a GSX-R1000...it's more comfortable, it's a tourer after all. Not every bike is bought for speed

as an owner of a derestricted busa (in black) it would be the GSXR without a doubt. theres not a huge amount of difference in power between them to be honest. the busa has the top end but the gsxr has the agility.
