I have had a bizarre burning smell from that area too. I had checked all the wires to make sure they were not being cooked but it was still there. After a recent service tho, the smell disappeared. The man at the garage blew out all the crap from my oil cooler and radiator, so I recon that dirt (and in those areas especially) could could be the cause.

Shell petrol always smells different to me.
Last time I had bad smell form that area on my bike it was coolant leaking from the radiator due to a nice big hole left by a stone. |
