or find your local market type place that does 'rip off' stuff. there's usually somewhere that does 'em. if you really can't find one, then i'll go to the one in bovingdon for you chris (or you can join me) one saturday. that's where i get mine from.

Just got mine from here, really good quality.
They make any size, postage is about £3 but took almost a week
Use LONDONBIKERS for 10% discount.
BTW 7" x 4.5" is very small in the flesh!

it's no longer legal in the UK to sell anything resmbling a number plate that isn't 100% legal size / font etc

hence why they now mostly ship from ireland, conveniently bypassing yet another bit of retarded legislation...

the DVLA wanted to try and stop people using anything but 100% legal plates, so from the 1st November 2008 they made it illegal in the UK to supply anything bearing a vehicle registration mark that wasn't a 100% legal plate, the ubiquitous excuse was "to fight crime and terrorism" and suppliers needed to be registered and keep details of people who buy plates, because obviously ahmed the terrorist doesn't use a fake ID when he's in the UK

of course they're so short sighted they didn't see the obvious solution, start shipping your plates from a company registered outside the UK and you're breaking no law, so all of a sudden loads of showplate manufacturers have done this, most of them setting up an address in ireland where the law doesn't apply

stupid law, poorly thought out, won't prevent crime, won't stop terrorism, but will inconvenience a whole bunch of people who are sick of having a novelty sized sail on the back of their bike...

The purpose for the plates is so that ANPR cameras can read your registration...oh and those pesky speed cameras.

If the police decide to stop you and give you a ticket on two separate occasions then DVLA can and will withdraw your registration number meaning that you would have to fork out for re-registering your bike...will cost you obviously and is a pain in the rear.

Your choice really

Does that mean a small (say 7 x 4.5) plate wont be read by the above?

Who knows? But if the plate is not to the correct dimensions then by current legislation you would be commiting an offence irrespective of whether or not cameras can read them. To be honest if the plate is alittle smaller then it probably won't be noticed unless some copper stops you and measures it..as I said the choice is yours...

I know that on occasion the ANPR cameras in the cars misread car registrations so are checked by the operator to make sure it's correct before they stop the vehicle.
