Ah! A bit off my patch, but I used to work over that way. Lots of drug dealing at the garden centre car park after dark!

I believe they don't actually need road lines (Truvelos only have one anyway) to be approved. Coz people have been measuring the lines and challenging the tax, they have been putting them up without lines. Computer says "give me £50" and no come-back!

Truvelos have three lines. The car must be level with the lines in the pic to show the camera worked properly. The gatso needs the lines to corroborate (sp) the speed the radar gives by using the speed = distance/time equation.

Strange you should mention it, I saw Mr Plod with a bit of electronics by the side of the road on Friday. I'm assuming it was a speed camera but it was tiny - about the size of a hand held video camera.

He'd also brought his friends along in the big fast estate car to pull over anyone who didn't stop. Fortunately, I was behind white van man who was doing exactly 30 (see, there is a first time for everything), and I couldn't be bothered to overtake.

Keith.

Yup, the requirement to paint them yellow stopped at the same time as they stopped having to announce the location of mobile cameras in advance of deployment.

But then, you have nothing to fear, right?

If it was a huge estate van, and a tripod arrangement, it could of been crash investigators at work. We've had some near me recently. I too thought it was a tiny speed camera on a tripod until I got closer.

They were measuring at the run up to the site of a very bad accident.

Then again, it could have been a lad with a handheld Lti 20-20 ultralyte and his own Volvo patrol car. Don't read so much into something!

By me there are only two speed camera's. Instead Worcestershire and Warwickshire have lowered the speed limit. Evesham to Stratford upon Avon is a 50 all the way - now how am I supposed to test a Busa in these conditions???!!
