Even if this were correct - which I sincerely dispute, (see below), - this is hardly a reasonable comment, you can't criticise a bigger bike for being a bigger bike. No-one would ever criticise an SV650 for being bigger and less 'chuckable', (whatever that means), than an RS250 Aprilia, but by this logic it unquestionably is.

The SV1000 gives considerably more torque than does the 650, thus it requires better throttle control, it's unfair to criticise a bike for a common failing of people's riding technique - nothing in the world steers correctly off the throttle and greater torque, both on and off the throttle, shows that up more plainly.

Both very much greater quality than the 650 - the 1000 isn't the budget bike the 650 is - brakes are the highly regarded four-piston Tokico, standard pads are fine, some people have swapped to a suitable GSXR shock, not a huge improvement to my mind, as the original is good but should replacement be needed there's no reason to not get a better unit if possible. Seen a couple of GSXR front end swaps, but, as you say, because the original is excellent it's no so commonly done.

Interesting stuff squid, I've been riding for two years so I might not be ready for the monstrous torque of a v-twin thousand, might give it a bit longer before I trade mine in for a missile

I'm generally very sensible (see also steady away) on the bike, but it was only last Sunday that I had a slight brown pants moment as the back wheel slid sideways about 8inches. I'd missed the dust on the road at the roundabout as I filtered to the front, the woman in the people carrier decided she wasn't going to let me in, and I responded by pulling away a bit quicker than her = damn near highsided the mofo! Think if it had been a thou, I might have kissed the tarmac

having said that, that's been my only "near miss" or "wobble" for about a year, so I guess it's par for the course..

Better V-twin bikes out there for similar monies

Dont be under the impression its a more powerful 650, its not at all.

Best thing is to go test ride a few, I did.
