I've changed my chain using the swingarm method. It is time comsuming, dirty and you will need a special socket to remove the swingarm spindle. However it is worth it in that you can inspect,clean and regrease the pivot bearings. I figure a chain rivetted in the factory has got to be better than one done in situ. At least you know the factory standards whereas the guy who does it for you in a bike shop may be hit or miss. Having said that 99% of folk get their chain riveted without apparently any ill effects.
