From your description I'd say it's normal. I know mine does similar and it doesn't bother me.

My CG used to do it all the time when rolling off the throttle quickly. I put it down to "character." I managed to get the (pointy) SV to back fire while starting up the other day. Holy ʇıɥs that was loud, thought I'd broken something. I don't like loud scary noises Can I get a quieter exhaust as well please?
