Aye b0llocks to the cosmetics. What state's the motor in?

What's the dealers idea of a "service"? Have you checked all the chassis bearings? Is the dealer going to grease them all up for you?

The bottom yoke is "slightly orange", I wish my yoke was "slightly" orange! but then it was slightly orange when it was about 4 months old despite being cleaned every week, the amount of rust remedy I've slapped on it is rediculous. But as I'm changing them for gixxer front end I'm not bothered.
The exhaust wants chucking in the bin anyway so I wouldn't be to bothered about that either.
My main concerns would be, are there any strange noises coming from the engine, any blue smoke (or white when warmed up) coming out the exhaust, are the forks in good condition i.e no oil leaks or knackered seals (flaking paint is inevitable) ditto rear shock and are the calipers functioning properly and appear to be properly maintained (greased pistons and pad retaining pins).
Other than that what you have described is common (wheels excepted) on a 6 month old bike let alone a 6 year old bike.
But, as has been said take a look around, plenty out there.

When i bought my K3 to build a race bike I especially looked for one that had cosmetic imperfections like this. Its the perfect excuse to haggle the price down and is mostly easy to sort out yourself.

My bike was advertised as a non-runner, the brakes were seized solid and it had been out in the rain for about 12 months.

I had the engine running in about 15 minutes (while still outside the guys house ) and the brakes needed nothing more than a simple strip down, clean and rebuild.

Try and haggle the price down further with cash in your pocket, if they wont budge then just walk away and find another.

Decided to give the bike a miss and carry on looking. My Dad wasn't happy with the Sale's person's attitude and we left it there.

Shame really, it would have been perfect.

Onwards and upwards!

MCT have a nice k6 in (i think), might have a look, its just a bit over the budget.

£2k is about my budget. I think its slightly optimistic maybe, but its good to have a plan, even if its a crap one...

Ill advertise in the wanted section.

No harm in knocking or trying to knock some of the dealers down.

We did try at the Honda garage, but Mr Man didn't want to hear any of it.

He said it was our problem if we didnt want to pay full whack. 'Someone will pay 2k' for it.

With hindsight and the stuff you guys have been saying, £2k probably was pretty good, but his attitude sort of lost it. Hard to explain how, but he was just really rude.
