Exercize is very good for upping your endorphins and helping you feel more on top of stuff, so give it a go. You could also up your intake of B vitamins (especially b12) and pottasium as these have been proven to have a positive effect on mood (marmite is good for b-vits, bananas for potassium, anyone for a banana/marmite smoothy?)

The other thing you could do is try to build something new into your routine so you feel you're getting somewhere once in a while.

I've been through depression in the past and it's nasty. If you wanna talk PM me and I'll send you my number.

WB, sorry to see your feeling like this mate.

I had a very funny bought a few months back where I went into a motion of work, home, pub, work, home, pub. I didn't want to see anyone, I turned real nasty and was a true **** to be around. I think it was all because things between me and my girlfriend had taken a turn for the worst (arguing all the time), my Mum seemed against me, work was down right getting to me, my friends didn't seemed bothered with me anymore because of 2 years of neglect. I collapsed in a heap one night, just actually head f**ked, just couldn't figure what was actually wrong.

Talked to my dad and was in tears (yes, me tears), just couldn't get out of a state. He gave me £100, said, get away for the weekend, I did, I rode miles and miles, camped out for one night and slept in a hotel for the second night, then I set a few laws down to myself, lose weight, get some exercise, stop drinking, enjoy life a bit more, switch off from work, stop worrying about Kayla she's fine with you, go and see your mates.

I've had to cut the biking out for now, I think for the moment it is for the best, I do however have a project that when I am interested I go and work on. Maybe next summer all shall be well and we'll be off to Silverstone for a few trackdays. I get out a lot more with my best mate and his missus with mine too The weight loss is as per other peoples views, I don't look like I have lost anything, but most importantly I feel healthier for my new eating habits and drinking habits. Work, as per other post earlier, I am now getting on and enjoying, my original solution was to get a new job, but have decided to stick where I am. And of course the cycling, doing that to and from work when I can and enjoy it at the moment, it is certainly a lot cheaper than motorcycling

Wideboy, I'm sorry you're feeling so bad and sounds very similar to how I felt a couple of years back after my life was turned on its head. I went to the docs, they wanted to prescribe very mild anti-depresants but I said I didn't want that, so was prescribed to keep walking the dogs 2-3 times a day, make myself dress nicley and visit a friend or family member at least twice a week and find a form of exercise not associated with dog walking to do for 30 minutes every day.

It really did help. It took a while, but making myself get dressed nicely and visit people helped me socialise and more importantly, helped prevent me from alienating my friends by ignoring them. The exercise gave me a natural buzz and things gradually got better and better.

My mum however had the same thing when she was 17 and my sister did when she was in her early 20's. With mum, 30 years ago, it took a while to diagnose, but with my sister, after failed anti-depressants and a few tests, they realised that she had an under or overactive thyroid (can't remember which) but it really effects the ability to get up and go. It shows a lot of the same symptoms and in mum and Rhiannon they both get really easily aggrevated by things if they don't have their tablets every day.

That's all it is for them, diagnosis and tablets to make up for the lack of or increase in the workload of the thyroid.

My point is this.....I'm not saying you could have this or have anyting else....that's the whole point. No one can know unless they are a doctor and see you in person and go through everything with you.

The general advice of exercise, goals and making yourself get up and do things will have many benefits regardless of what, if anything is actually wrong but........go to the doctors to start the ball rolling and get find out the root of the cause. That's the only real way you'll be able to get yourself back to normal. Just making the appointment will make you feel a little more positive!

Good luck and let us know how you get on. xx

dude , get your thyroid checked too, commonly presents as depression ..

apathy
loss of appitite
weight gain/loss
muscular pain
short term memory loss

the diabetes check is a good call too..

it may not be this, but there may be a easily resolvable medical reason for you being like this, as there is with many people. a chat with you gp will set you off in the right direction, best advise is write down how you've been, do a daily diary to present to them it will give them an idea of where is the best place to start.

either way good luck and i hope you get your mojo back soon.

C.

I seem to have been getting a bit like this lately, although not as much as the OP.
For me I can pin point it to two thigns though, my parents have just split up (that would be the main reason) and there's no football season.

Hope you start to feel better, dude. Everybody has their off days

Hi matey ,do you think it could have something to do with your job.I know you are fed up with it at the moment. The only problem is that now is not the best time to be looking fvor a new one. I know that you are normally very self motivated and never stop for a moment,so a new job with new responsabilities and having to think for youself ,could be just what you need.MSN after

Get yourself along to your GP pronto for a broad base blood test to include, haemaglobin, ferritin, glucose, and thyroid function test.
Meanwhile take a good quality multivitamin and up your water intake.
Get outside in the fresh air for at least half an hour each day.
If everything physical is ruled out then consider depression.
It's nothing to be worried about. All the best people get it! I promise you, it goes away, and there IS light at the end of the tunnel!
Get well soon Dx
