ah sorry mate, missed the bit about the tail tidy..

there's alsorts of companies who do them, I had a hamicad tail tidy on my 650 and then I think the one I've got on the sv1000 now, is an R&G (bought it 2nd hand from Girth on here so not sure to be honest).

They all generally give the same result but have slight variations in their design... Fitting involves taking the whole back end off but the hamicad one came with instructions and I was able to remember when fitting the R&G one a few weeks ago.

There's also this guy who sells SV bling bits http://www.chewys-stuff.co.uk/ the mirror spacers are good and I've also done the angled can mod (sv1000 only). Quality stuff

have you got any pictures? The most frontal area of my lower fairings is only about 4-5 inches above the ground if I remember rightly

if you feel confident chopping the plastic and mounting the numberplate then give it a shot but I've a feeling you might struggle to make it look any good. The aftermarket ones cost a bit of money but are generally a perfect fit and look smart as hell..

Welcome mate, good choice of bike.

I would say go for the tailtidy, seen couple on ebay recently so worth a ganders see if you can save a few quid. I tried the 'chop the plastic' route on my 650 pointy and it was carp, your limited to how much you can chop really and the no. plate ended up sitting at right angles to the plastic, the tailtidy makes it more angled with the rear wheel and looks sooooo much better . Oh and get a different can for it, £150 max for a Carbon Can Co, Fuel or Beowulf and the noise (sans baffle) is amazing. Best thing I did with mine

I know what you mean, mine still has the original snow shovel on it and it looks terrible, looking at SV's with tail tidys I just wanna kick mine off, so got to get a tail tidy sorted.

I'm just down the road from you in Nuneaton so have to give me a shout when you're on the road, could go to Bassetts or something (have a gandy in the Madlanders bit down the bottom).
