Mine comes on only if i'm sitting on the motorway (going round the uk with lots of luggage meant i wasn't filtering) So after a couples of hours riding, then sitting with the engine running. The first time it happened i couldnt work out what the noise was.

Never had my fan come on. It is supposed to come on at about 104, but my bike even sat in Croatian heat never got above 96 IIRC. Usually runs at about 86 in the UK.

My fan comes on in heavy london traffic, but only in little flutters. I have a tep gauge on my bike, fan cuts in at about 100 (just over). And usually only in summer. Dosnt really do it in winter.
There is a little red light on the tachometer that, if your bike did overheat, would come on. if it does, hit the killswitch. Check your coolant and top up with antifreeze if neccesary. Keep the oil level topped up towards the top line. This will help with keeping the engine cool (oil cools the engine too ya know) |

Only when stationary for more than 5mins or so with the engine on, after a long blast, so not that regular!

spooky topic just the other day mine came on on the curvy for the first time in the 18 months i'd owned it. No idea of the temp but it had been left standing for a good ten minutes after a run of about an hour.

Well when I got back from uni today I ran the bike on the driveway for a few mins at lowish revs and after about 2 mins the fan came on. First time I have ever heard it but at least I know it now works!
