Known as clone keys. You often here that if you dont have the master you've had it. Well there is some truth if you need to program the ECU in some way or attached alarm, but it aint all over. Loads of places do clone keys the biggest problem is the price. Some places charge £80! My local locksmith is brilliant (no relation or connection). They do clones for £30 and will cut keys for most bikes (and just about everything else). He can even cut keys from a photo of the original apparently!

Don't get a ' genuine Suzuki ' blank.
I did & it was like lead. It didn't cut clean & was FFF expensive!

Just an update, got it cut today.

Perfect, better than the original. First guy said he couldn't so i went to timpsons, he wreckoned the old key had a wider groove than my blank, after assuring him it was just worn he said 'I'll give it a go' and cut it for free

Key blank: SILCA: SZ14RAP

My local proper locksmith (Round the corner from DavePreston) does them for about £5.

He has cut copies for both my SV and GSXR. One did not work so he did a second copy free.

Is that right? - Does the early SV650 X have chipped/coded keys linked to an HISS type system? Seems unlikely to me.

Stew.
No

I had a 99 SV650 X, the spare key in fact had no plastic on it at all

I lost one original key for my SK1 but still had the all-metal one.

My local key places didn't have any blanks for it, so I dropped into the tradeinpost in Shifnal (on my way to Shrewsbury) and he did a good job, a couple of keys for less than a tenner.

i have a motorcycle shop and also a heel bar....send me yours registered mail and i can copy it and post it back registered.
£7 total.
This also applies to anyone else in the forum that would like a key copied.

I would advise against buying a blank on e(vil)-bay...a lot i've seen are weak metal chinese horrible things. Plus going into a key cutting shop with a blank bought elsewhere is a bit like going into a restaurant with a steak you got in a butchers and asking them to cook it, no ? It happens here some times and I don't like it at all.
If I supply it I am happy to stand over the quality of it, simples!

I have a JLA, and i got it cut from the spare key that i had (supplied when new). Sometimes if you use the worn key it can cause issues. Worth a thought. The remnds me, when i moved i cant remember what i done with my spare keys. Better have a look tonight
