Taking the p*2s that is. Is it just me or does everyone hear nothing but tales of woe with BMW and reliability? Aren't they all made in China now anyway?

Tell me about it lol!
I heard they were rock solid and had great support. Guy in the shop (mistake number one here) told me avg service was about £120.... I should of phoned for an actual quote instead of listening to the salesman. The major service (Every 12k or two years which ever is first) involves taking the entire bike apart (litterally). The minor sevice (every 6k or 1 year) is less intrusive and about £240. |

12k miles, some of it london riding...I've done over 20,000 and my clutch is still going good, and I've done mostly london riding!

I'd be spitting feathers if my clutch had gone at 12k. But there's no guarentee's in life, no matter how much mr salesman tells you.

No guarentees indeed however I think I'd be prepared to argue that there is such a thing as quality and craftsmanship. After all, their website promotes their machine as 'The Ultimate Motorcycle'. I think I'd expect a bit more than 12K from a clutch on a BMW.

But at the end of the day a clutch is wear and tear and BMW can quite rightly wash their hands of it no matter how much in the real world it may seem you haven't got a "reasonable" value out of your purchase.

Whilst this is indeed true, and I would have to agree with you, there's still no harm in trying. Don't be defeatist - go get 'em!!
