Depends on what you or they think is a normal service. I get this problem when quoting people for servicing work.
Normal service depends on whether your going by the normal suzuki schedule and what they advise to be checked/changed or just an oil/filter change etc. Also depends greatly on labour rates. Our labour rate would be higher than say places up north due to building rents/staff wages etc being alot higher down here. Ive quoted for example £200 for a 7.5k on the suzuki schedule yet another garage quoted an hour to do it and £90. Now even our most experienced tech would struggle to do exactly what suzuki say should be done in an hour, well properly anyway!. The lad then went back and the other place had only quoted for an oil/filter change and chassis check, totally different to the 7.5k scheduled service. |

I just did a 7 k service on my 2005 sv650s
I bought K&N oil filter £10 NGK Spark Plugs £12 Suzuki Air Filter £11 Castrol 10-40 Motorcycle specific oil £15 for 2.5 litres approx. New washer for sump plug 20p Total = £ £48.20 It took me no more than 2 hours My local garage wanted £170.00, so i saved £120 quid for 2 hours work. So unless you earn more than £30 an hour i cant see why anyone would ever take their bike for a servise at a garage such as the one stated above. |

And £50 an hour for main dealers is cheap as mine 2 years ago wanted £45 + VAT so over 50 notes 2 years ago. Safe to say once my service pack has finished i won't be touching dealers again. Last edited by thefallenangel; 27-12-09 at 09:44 AM. |
