Try and get one with a braked trailer, spend as much time looking at the trailer as you do the boat, cos that will probably do more miles (mine did).
Make sure wheel bearings are ok, if its been used for sea use then they would have been in salt water a fair bit, buy marine grease (white in colour i think) and pack all the bearings and hub in this stuff, helps protect them.

Do you have a Helmsmans certificate[Power]?--Have you checked on the insurance costs? Do you have a radio operators license? Some place to keep it when on the trailor[26-28ft long]Life jackets and saftey equipment? Aware of the rules of navigation?------all things to consider
Boats are like bikes,if you are going to do it do it properly,to many people buy boats without considering the safety aspects and the sea is not a forgiving place and like bikes people have insurance and frequently claim.
I sailed from the age of 14 and have had a 300hp power boat[Ski] plus yachts from 20ft -34ft.Yachtmaster Ocean and Int Helmsmans Cert plus a Radio Operators Lic

All good points, exactly the reason why i didnt use on the sea, as i didnt know enough, plus i have fear of drowning
Doesnt the radio license depend on what you use ?
Is the power boat cert optional?

Just enquiring for my own knowledge.

BTW Insurance a defo, at least 3rd party

Many places will not let you launch and use the waterway without a helmsmans certificate.
It is against the law to use a VHF without a radio license and an operators license, two different things. This applies to handheld and fixed radios.

thanks dicky. i was aware of the radio liecnse but not the helmsmans. Buying this boat is not something im taking lightly. i will be doing everything by the book when i do this. i will be taking my son out on it also so will make sure im 100% satisfied that i know what im doing.

Ill look into the helmsmans licence now.

thanks again

Get something like a phantom class then you have the option of racing it, water skiing and just immense fun.

Fastest thing i have ever done a delivery on was a Sunseeker San Remo 35 and it was great fun, although a bit beyond your budget lol
