I know that's what's bringing the price up also. I always have protected no claims, no voluntary excess which always adds upwards of a hundred quid. My renewal still has this included too.

Shopping around is the only way if you feel your paying too much, maybe offer higher excess, limited mileage etc that can sometimes lower the premiums. Last edited by Specialone; 02-01-10 at 11:31 AM. |

I've often seen my premiums jump up for no reason. I think they just rely on people being lazy and not shopping around. I have a diesel Scenic. I have 20 yrs no claims and just lost the 3 speeding points I had as it was more than 5 years ago. In December the insurers bumped it up by £75 to £280. I shopped around and got it for £180 comprehensive, even with business use.
My advice - go to moneysavingexpert.com and follow his guidance for getting the best quote using a combination of comparison sites. I got mine through gocompare.com, which directed me to M&S financial services for the best quote. HTH Keith |

See I think £611 is too expensive as I paid £360 fully comp, protected no claims and no voluntary excess lasy year, now its £450 and the compulsory excess has gone up to £450!!

![]() Well I can't afford to buy a car thats worth much so if i want to drive a car as well then i have no choice really.I could have gotten maybe £400 quid cheaper if i had chose a different car but i wasnt willing to drive something thats the same size as a lunch box with a piddly little 1.2 litre engine. |

Its not all based on engine size. Some of the ratings are based on security too. Jenn went to the freelander from her saxo and although the car was worth worth more and had a bigger engine (nearly a litre bigger) the insurance was the same. |
