Studs would be the best thing but they're illegal to use in Germany

What about these?
Might work, but I suspect the ADV would shred nylon rope fairly quickly

Well that chain I have is a tsubaki sigma 525. I might also have a 520 from GPZ... Sure you can find dimensions somewhere.

Actually I did remove both of these with finesse, subtlety and an angle grinder. But I don't suppose that makes any odds for your use.

Hmm, I can get tech specs for the 525 chains but nowhere lists the height of the plates... I'll have a look on the ADV tomorrow as presumably they're going to be pretty similar... hopefully

Hmm, had a look at the tyres this morning, treads aren't as tall as I thought, only 9mm in the centre and 11m at the edge of the tyre. Problem may be there's only 19mm between the blocks as you go around the direction of rotation of tyre, ie; the chain would need to be under 19mm wide to fit between them. The one fitted to the ADV is 24mm wide - Sigma 525 chains are 22mm pin length according to their tech specs...

So... Back to the drawing board

TBH that 525 I've got here is probably knackered enough to bend around the tyre edge-on!
