It always seems short sighted to me to stick the consumable prices through the roof, thats when people start going to aftermarket, for example with brake pads, I prefer OEM but not to the point where I'm going to pay twice as much as say EBC. The same goes for all the other parts, its all very well charging £50 for fork seals (yes really, thats how much the hayabusa ones are) but are they really going to last 5 times longer than the £10 aftermarket ones?
Once people start down the Aftermarket is OK route and start going elsewhere its then far harder to get those customers back, if nothing else because it creates a market *for* aftermarket parts. Druid

They did a price re-alignment as they know share the same parts system as Europe meaning any part even if the UK dont stock it can arrive from Europe within 2 working days, or overnight from Germany. Some parts were waaaay too low apparantly and this new system has highlighted that fact. Im glad though we sell Suzuki..you try pricing Yamaha parts i nearly spat my coffee when pricing an engine rebuild last week...one complete set of valves £1800!!!..double the price of the Suzuki titanium valves. Things have to have caught up though, exchange rates have been **** now for 2 plus years..poor value of the pound will push prices in any sector up if the parts are sourced or made out of the UK. ****e yes..but not totally unexpected if you understand economics. Plus the SV650 lower seat was subsidised, i guess this subsidy has now ended. It was always 1/4 of the price of a normal SV seat. Last edited by SV650Racer; 25-01-10 at 04:44 PM. |
