Spiderman, apologies for not introducing myself first, this fault has now been rectified, & hopefuly you are now dilemmaless (not sure if this is a real word, but if it isn't, it should be).

Bit more info on the bike, it's a '99 SV650S, cost me a grand, & has 36000 on the clock, I'll post some pics over the weekend. It's not quite standard, but I don't have all the details at hand, I'll post details with the pics

Thanks to everyone who's posted so far, I'll let you know how I get on.

As requested, there should be some pictures of the sprocket attatched to this post, unless I've not attatched them properly. Hope this helps.
I've had a rethink about the clutch, & I've decided that I was being a bit weak, and the clutch is not as bad as I thought. It snaps back into place ok if release it, so I've had a word with myself about it, and told myself to man up. I also compared it with the clutch on a Yamaha V-Twin while I was out picking up a new battery this morning, & the two feel just the same!

Id be budgeting for a new chain and sproket set in the very near future.
I hope you didnt pay too much for this bike as it seems to need a bit doing to it.

An unloved bike needs only a caring owner to return it to its former glory

I remind you all of the case of Honda VFR vs Alpinestarhero Snr (thats me dad)

that was a complete mess once, neglected and forgotten (almost) about for 11 years, thrown in a shed and left to wither away

The bike had not moved for almost a year until yesterday, when I bought it. I was expecting to have to do some work to it. As Alpinestarhero said "An unloved bike needs only a caring owner to return it to its former glory", at least that's the plan.
