Can you have a word with the facilities manager or similar? A nice friendly chat and you could get permission to park there, they'd probably be so pleased that someone cared to talk to them that wasn't moaning about something they'd be keen to help and sort you out a nook.

FYI round Eastbourne where I work bikes can park in permit only spaces without a permit as long as they are at right angles to the kerb, might be worth asking whoever is resonsible for parking in your area as the permit holders might be closer than non permit.
