![]() For me, it's peace of mind and time. I like the idea that if I break my bike, it gets carted off and fixed, leaving me to continue work on my other projects.

I went fully comp as soon as it was cheap enough for me. It wasn't until I'd had the multibike policy for a couple of years that I did so. I wasn't happy with the excess for the previous year so I stayed TPFT for that year only.
I couldn't give a monkeys that my bikes are worth less than 2k, or whatever value someone thinks a bike shouldn't be insured at FC. My bikes are covered fully comp because I'd like to feel that every possibility is covered, and that includes my own stupidity! Its cheaper for me to pay for FC insurance than a whole new bike with a lesser insurance if that scenario came into play. My FC premium last year for two SVs was £297 with a £200 excess. Its up for renewal in May. I'm hoping it will be cheaper this year as I'll have five years NC...but I don't hold my breath as all insurance everywhere went up slightly on the last renewal.

Talked to an insurance advisor about getting insurance for my newly qualified daughter and one tip he told me was......
Try a quote on fully comp but put the excess up. You don't pay excess on a third party claim but you do against your car. If you want a cheaper quote but not too worried about the amount you get back on your claim then often this way of getting a fully comp insurance can be cheaper than some TPFT/TP insurance. |
