Yes I know it's hard for you, but from what you describe I would take a lot of comfort from the fact he survived the accident, is conscious and ICU is the best place for him that they can look after him as best as possible. From what little I know, I would not think a lung injury would be life threatening given that he is now in hospital.

This is true. All speculation here, but by punctured lung I assume what is meant is a pneumothorax. These are seldom life threatening, and in ICU he is in good hands. Brainy those ICU doctors are too.

I'm sure he'll be out of there in no time and on a regular ward. He is alive, and that is the biggest positive.

good reason not to buy a green bike, it cant be seen in the bushes.
you have two lungs so if hes only punctured one he will be fine, even both theres over an 80% chance of survival and if hes in ICU the geeky doctors will patch him and get him back on a bike in no time.
shock is the only thing that cant be treated so you really do need to sleep and remember its a good thing you was there to help when he came off.

Sorry to hear this, Lozzo. I hope he makes a fast, full recovery.

How are you this morning?

Jeez Loz, that's a scene that none of us would ever want to go through so not surprised you're shaken up.

Really hope Darren's OK and makes a good recovery. Thinking of you all

Morning folks, and thanks for all the good wishes.

I feel rough. Couldn't sleep properly last night and have to drive a long way this morning. I'm due in the office early to hand in last week's paperwork, but might tell the boss I'm going bck home to rest as I'm still feeling a bit shocked by it all.

I've attended many accident scenes over the years, even watched as one friend died in a similar situation, but because I've known Daz so long and known his wife for almost as long, watched them marry, have kids, worked with Daz and two of his daughters etc, it has really hit me hard. The other friends I've seen in similar situations I've only known through our love of bikes and had probably only ever seen them on bikes, I don't also know them as normal everyday human beings with wives and lives, like I do Daz. Maybe that's why I feel like I do.
