going to check all the wires and connectors and give it a spray down the ign barrel, fingers crossed it is an easy fix!

tell him to flog it and get a 'proper' daytona! (proper as in a 675)

why dont you steer him towards getting a curvy and bore him to death wth it...

All the power runs through the ignition and the dash will only light up with the keys in and the bike turned on.
The ignition seems to be the obvious place to start.

If it is the ignition switch, I think they are the same as fitted to early Aprilia RSV Milles, might be worth checking out the prices of those if they are - it may be a cheaper part from Aprilia, but knowing what Aprilia parts supply is like, don't bank on getting one before Christmas 2013.

6 ft 1 but an odd shape

Most ss600 are too cramped for me but the 675 is short and narrow for me

To chuck in my two pence.

It does sound like the ignition barrel that has a damaged connnection, but does the bike have an alarm/ immobilser fitted cos they can do the wierd and wonderful when they go wrong.

I'm sure a friend had a problem with the battery draining and the dash going nuts when it saw fit and it was sheared wire on the imobiliser part of the wiring loom causing it
