With regard to the exhaust I just went at it with a cheap hacksaw, remember to cover the frame, pegs and anything else you think you might scratch if the saw slips though.

I had a blue flame exhaust, these are pricey brand new but I got it from a fellow orger second hand. With the baffles out it was very loud

I am useless mechanically, half the threads in the bike sections of this forum I have no idea what they are talking about but I still managed to fit the bubgs and can with no problems.
I liked the sound without anything on,might do that lol. Thanks for all your advice,I was battling to understand if the bungs fit to the bike or the fairing but I understand now.Just bought suzuki crash bungs of ebay,I dont do to many high speeds so should be good enough. Will take my time with the exhaust.Am I right to say the can just slips over and clamps onto the exhaust

Yer that's right. Took me about an hour in total including the sawing and that was with a pretty blunt saw.

Good morning all.

When I was up (sorry) oooop North the winters were quiet because the so called Hard Northerners were too wimpy to go out in winter Babysham? BAH! pass the meths please!

Be careful when undoing the engine mounting bolts to fit the crash bungs. It's not unknown to have them seized in. Break one & it's a right royal pain to drill them out.

Cheers.

Stewart when did you get up North? You were down near midlands somewhere...

R+Gs are flawed.
Suzuki crash bungs are worse than useless.

Motosliders sell new ones which look solid and don't require the fairing cutting.

Has anyone actually crashed with the r&g ones with the chunky bracket fitted?

Yes....me. I have crashed with them and they worked brill. They caused the bike to slide 100+ metres down the mway!!!!! The bung simply ground half way down, prevented the bike from flipping. The only major damage was all cosmetic and so the bike was repaired through insurers. If they hadn't have been there, would almost certainly have been a right off.

As for other brands......DO NOT get the Suzuki ones, I have seen the snap when the bike has been dropped stationary. R&G's won't do that.

I agree with DavePreston.....Motosliders are better, as Lily had them, BUT, they require cutting the fairing.

So in my view, if you want the no hassle approach, just get the R&G's with the bracket. My bike took three spills on them and I only had to replace one bobbin in total.

You can do it by hand its not difficult, just remember to tighten then pinch it a couple more times. But, if you can borrow a torque wrench, do so.
