It is a problem with cornering, check the pressures every couple of weeks so don't think it's that. It's a new bike so I've been taking it pretty steady until I get used to it, and have done a few motorway miles.

Why would incorrect suspension settings cause excessive wear? Suspension is a mystery to me, will get it set up properly as soon as I can find someone who can do it for me at a reasonable price (see other threads by me on this)

Just suprised that the tires went from, "hmmm those might need looking at soon" to "bloody hell that's bald" in the space of 400 miles.

I got 2500 miles to a Bt014 on a Speed Triple. Pretty ****ty tbh. After that I put a BT021 (£180 for a 190 - ouch) on the back and I've done 4000 miles so far, and it's only just beginning to show any sign of age. This includes 2500 miles pillion + luggage up hooning on French roads Still got the Bt014 on the front and reckon I'll put a 016 on soon.

014 don't last long. I had a set on my GSXR, rear was past it's best after 800 miles and I managed to get 1200 miles from it. 2nd rear lasted a little longer but not much. They are soft and go square in the middle very quickly. I'd say what you are finding is normal for that model of tyre. Try either pilot power 2ct or corsa3 if you want a sports tyre that last longer than the 014.

I got 3500 from my bt014 rear and im not an 'accomplished' rider. Have changed to bt021 which many dislike but im getting on fine with at my level of riding.

The soft tyre that came on my 600rr from new lasted 2750. The bt021 I put on after has just lasted 5k

Too hard and it could be giving chatter which allows the tyre to make tiny little skips and slides which very quickly eat the rubber.

Ahh your first problem is the utter dog wank tyres you have had on. IMO bridgestone make the worst tyres known to man.

I have just got rid of a set of 014's on the R1 , they did not last long as couple of thousand max and one track day.

But they made the bike handle like an utter dog , front was terrible everywhere. Changed them fo a set of storm ultra 2;s and the difference is out of this world. I actually have confidence in the front end again. And after i have fitted the Ktech springs will be even better.

Never again will any of the ****estone tyres be going anywhere near any bike i ever have.

A day at the mechanics for set up may be worth it

Do it yourself, you might learn something and you can always put it back how it was...
