Yamaha got in poop in the USA for selling the R6 with over 17000 redline when the limiter was 16 and a bit, had to offer to buy everyones bike back. No one took them up on it, so they say.

tbh The R6 runs out of power before the redline anyway so in my eyes it is uterly pointless, just hit the limiter for that bit longer.

16.5k revs.
there aint gona be anymore power after that.
that has got to be near enough the redline. yamaha put it at that for a reason.
and also the 2000 r6 is carbed so can you even get power comanders for them.

Sorry but are you and your mate completely fookin daft?
Clocks on your SV go up to 160 right... what does bike top out at?

KE = 1/2 mv^2, you figure adding an extra 2000rpm might add a teensy weensy bit of stress to the rods?

Nahh it'll be reet. They're just revs. Without a rev limiter any engine can rev up to eleventy millions easily. It's those manufacturers, they conspire and such to spoil our fun and sell us bigger, lighter or stronger engines for going faster (Do they think we're mugs?), when really all that's needed is removal of our rev limiters.

Pretty much every sportsbike is in the same boat though! The problem with the R6 was they used the 17.5k redline as a selling point, which was false hence the buy back option.

I had a 2006 during that fiasco and Yamaha never offered to by mine back! That said, I wouldn't have sold it to the either!
