Not really - not many of the SP250 were automatic ( if any )
The V8 in the Jaguar Mk2 bodyshell was, and the manual version of that was rarer that hens' whatnots.

Your mate might be a bit wrong. The SP250 had a cam and peg steering box, no balls in there from what I can remember.

My bad - whatever, we couldn't find any on the road although the bottom plate & sundry spacers were there.
Think the lack of support at the bottom of the column caused the problem.
Always pi$$ed me off his car was just that bit quicker than my Healey 3000. I couldn't even tow him home. Happy daze!
