In which case MBK you are far more knowledgeable than you have previously been given credit for and as for not being a 'he', well..........that's not your fault!

From: Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 2002*

(4) The licence shall be exhibited on the vehicle -

  • (a) in the case of an invalid vehicle, tricycle or bicycle, other than in a case specified in sub-paragraph (b) or (c) of this paragraph, on the near side of the vehicle;

    (b) in the case of a bicycle drawing a side-car or to which a side-car is attached, on the near side of the handlebars of the bicycle or on the near side of the side-car;

    (c) in the case of any vehicle fitted with a glass windscreen in front of the driver extending across the vehicle to its near side, on or adjacent to the near side of the windscreen;

    (d) in the case of any other vehicle -
    • (i) if the vehicle is fitted with a driver's cab containing a near side window, on that window; or

      (ii) on the near side of the vehicle in front of the driver's seat and not less than 760 mm and not more than 1.8 metres above the surface of the road.
So it's fairly plainly worded, and certainly says 'on the left', no mention of engine or other parts - so in exactly the place, on the left, that I've been led to believe all the years I've been riding, and no, I'm not an instructor.

* If there's later regs I can't find them.

Not according to the regs I found.
True they are from 2002 and it is entirely possible they have been superseded, but they state what has always been my understanding; the disc must be displayed on the left, there is no mention of where on the bike.

Are you trying to imply I can't read properly? Cause you are quite correct. As if Sir Sid was ever going to post something that contradicted himself.

I had to read that a second time as I initially thought you was getting a touch confrontational. I am sure you can read perfectly well. It is the process of turning words into information you had problems with

Of course sir Sid of the tools would never make a mistake.
