Tell you what, I'll degut the filter and write "YC" on it... then you are just replacing it with an aftermeerkat one eh

P.S we are not talking about removing the snorkel from the airbox of a 2gen bike!

Just so were *absolutely Clear* about what we are talking about here I've uploaded two pictures here. One is the std race BMC race Filter and one is the BMC Race RS filter.

A snorkelectomy is making the std race filter into the RS race filter.

As here..

http://www.sebei.co.cc/catpoopman/sv650_snorkel.html

Now how can making the standard Suzuki filter into a "Race RS" filter be deemed Illegal?

It's illegal, just chat to the guys at Brands who were advised so.

The air box may not be altered or replaced from that fitted to the homologated motorcycle.

The air filter element must be fitted but may be replaced with an after market item.

The air box inlet rubbers may not be removed or altered.
That's clear enough, isn't it?

Saying that if you don't bust the 72bhp limit you have to ask, how likely are you to get caught?

No it isn't clear.

First section, not applicable, the airbox is not being modified (i.e not removing the snorkel on a pointy)
Third element, not applicable, inlet rubbers are stock.

Second bit is the quandary. The stock air filter element is retained, just not the noise reduction bit in the middle.

At Brands this weekend Bemsee SV's were called into scrutineering after races at random. Riders were told to get their tools up from the paddock and strip down the tops of their bikes: Tanks, airboxes etc Result: several riders were disqualified for non stock items on their air intake systems. For the amount of gain for any non standard part (or missing part) its not worth it. Stick to the rules of a good stock class and its easy, try and bend them and you will get caught. Nick Clark won the two races on Saturday - by a country mile - on a standard bike certainly not known for its power curve - but then again he does ride with BSB. Anyone missing an air cleaner system or crankcase breathers better watch out

I think I see what you mean. I take it you're talking about a carbed bike as there is no possible misunderstanding on an injected one. The snorkel at the front - remove - illegal. Cut airbox top - illegal.
