The Toronto Star did a great editorial cartoon of it... the Iwo Jima marines putting the flag up (upside down) while one is reading an atlas and reading what's happened.

Been over in Northern Ireland for few days, and I've seen more union jacks in an hour than I have in years back home. Happy to report that I've not spotted an upside down one.
