Aprillia RSV mille forks, got them because
A: liked the look B: brembo's C: Sprung for my weight D: unique (t595 front wheel custom axle/spacers) E: Price down side, the ape uses a huge stem so a shim had to be welded to the SV stem then pressed in Lock stops dont work but can be made to work Last edited by barwel1992; 07-10-10 at 10:53 PM. |

GSXR 600 K1 (RWU) with fancy internals (apparently) forks lighter than USDs, 4 pot tokito calipers, 320mm wavy discs, SRAD wheels, ZX10R master cylinder, HRC miniresevoir, braided hoses.
Stopping power is amazing, handling is great too. Taper roller head bearings from Twin Works Racing for the conversion |

I got a sweet ebay deal on a set of '99 750 SRAD forks so I used those. Then sourced SRAD yokes with TL100S calipers and clip-ons. I used a 2006 Hayabusa front wheel b/c the color code is an exact match for the Sonic Silver. Discs are from an SRAD 600 (the ones with 8 disk rivets) so the speedo magnets would be equally spaced, and the discs carriers are silver instead of gold. The swap was pretty straight forward, only I used a TL1000R front fender which required the use of rubber spacers to push it out far enough to keep it from rubbing on the brake discs. I put in fresh fork fluid and replaced ALL seals, then installed appropriate Traxxion Dynamics springs while I had the fork tubes off. Mine is a G1 so I had to get the upper bearing and race from Zoran but installation was a non-event. Finally, I had to have my GPR steering damper bracket machined just a bit to fit the yoke's top clamp and I filed a couple of notches in the frame mount so the beefier top clamp did not hit. All in all, I am 100% satisfied, but it did take some time to get used to the quicker turn in

GSXR1000 K1-2. got complete front end off ebay minus the mudguard, gilles adjustable clipons.
my reasoning at the time was... well the gsxr weighs the same as the SV so it should work pretty well and it did. the 6 pots were ermm well toooo good and it was ever so slightly over sprung for my weight. rear shocky was GSXR1000 k8 as its very short but again a bit to heavy on the spring. once i had twiddled with the knobs it worked a lot better. clipons (once i got them positioned right) worked a treat with no need to lengthen any cables and all was routed as standard (no having to put them at the back of the fork legs). riding position was blisssssss not to upright and not to 'wristy'. but the best thing was it looked the dogs doodahs. |

![]() Yes, I was lucky with my front end, otherwise I would have gone down the SRAD route. But when I'd bid on the item, I had no knowledge that the seller would do all this for me and I was not aware of all the knowledge available on the ORG at the time

so far im liking the sound of gsxr1000 k1 front end just cos its a bit newer the the srad and the fact its of a gixer thou, ive been doing a bit research on bearings so that dont look much of a chour. and i guess it really comes down to how much u want to spend.

GSXR750 K6/7 front end. Got the forks, yokes, calipers, 2 x front wheels, discs and mudguard from a local breakers for a great price. Had to get the wheels straightened (but one cracked in the jig) and forks checked, but other than that, they pretty much went straight in.
Swapped the top yoke for a Gixxer 1000 K5/6 yoke so I could use the steering lock, albeit straight ahead. Speedo conversion was dead easy using the Honeywell sensor and rare earth magnets. Have a Gixer1000 K3 rear shock. |

Can also take the 4 pot tokico from gsxr6/750k1-k3 (same as sv1000 calipers) as well as the 6 pots from the thou.
