It might not have been a breeze if your name was Viney Goldberg, or you were gay.

I was asleep at 11am today
![]() I remember when I worked at BT, we all observed it, I was on the phone to a customer (we did internet support) and I told him I was sorry but I was under instruction to put them on hold for two minutes while we observed the silence along with the rest of the country. He scoffed incredulously at this. I hung up on him. |

When I used to work in professional rugby, we always had to go outside and stand and observe, whatever the weather. When I worked for Bristol Rugby in particular, we played and worked at the Memorial Staduim in Filton and so did Bristol Rovers who we shared the ground with. One year, we were all getting ready to go out as also, we had a massive media presence and thousands of locals would come to join us and a lady from the office said, "I'm not going out in this weather, it was ages ago...why should we care now?" You could hear a pin drop. She suddenly looked up to realise the whole office and all the players were giving her evils and she silently stood up, put her coat on and came to ask me if I had a spare poppy. Luckily I did.
She was the one that ended up in tears listening to the 7 war veterans that had come to thank us and pay their own respects. |

I keep losing my poppy, so the bike's wearing it wedged into the fairing screen
![]() We're remembering the people who gave their lives by the way, not the rights and wrongs of the whole issue, of which there many, many issues! |

Phones off the hook and computer screens off for two minutes here. It's only right that we give rememberence to those that made the ultimate sacrifice.
