I have had it in my bike for a couple of months now. I bought it to make room for a Kawa shock reservoir without needing to bend the undertray. AFAIK it won't safe you 4 kg but 2 kg is normal (0.7kg vs. 2.7kg or so). In my experience they hold charge pretty good, in fact I haven't felt any difference in practise compared to the original. I feel I can tell the 2 kg diff. prolly cause the weight loss is pretty high up on the bike. Some cells can be balanced with a special type of charger, but I haven't done mine. I will check how they have held charge at the end of the winter.

Lots of interesting threads on this on other bike forums if you google "diy lightweight battery" - you can buy an 8-pack of A123 LiFePO4 26650 cells for around £50 on ebay which is a comparable price to a standard lead-acid, so long as you don't mind making up the leads etc. Hmmm . . where's me soldering iron?

just weighed 2 batteries 1 of a bandit 12 and 1 of a gsx600 they both weighed about 4 kg so cant see how you can save 4 kgs,and for a £130 i could buy 3 top end gell batteries
