Not to do the A939 via Tomintoul would be criminal when you are going straightpast. Turn left after Braemar, ride until you hit a big T junction at Speybridge (after a long straight downhill), then turn around and ride back to Braemar, and continue your planned route.

So, coming up on the 26th staying at Gretna (possibly), Oban, Ullapool and Braemar.

Not sure whether this should be a leather trip, or textiles trip. Any advice from any natives? I know British weather is never that predictable, but you'll have a better idea what it's like up there than me.

Ta.

For ease and peace of mind, textiles.

It's generally accepted that Scotland is wet, however the west coast is monsoon territory when it wants to chuck it down and that can be any time of year. We've just had three weeks of blazing sunshine, followed by a week of almost constant rain with occasional downpours, and half hour spells of blazing sunshine that turned the roads to steaming ribbons of black.

Enjoy the trip.

What they said.

Plus, if you wear textiles it'll probably be sunny the whole time, which is better for the rest of us.

Dont close them for too long though or when you open them you will be standing in your pants with no bike.

Enjoy the tour
