IMHO its not that difficult a job, but... as the others have said, the screws that hold the plungers in can be a complete b*stard to get out.

Whilst you are at it, personally I'd fit a new choke cable as well. You might as well whilst you are working on it, and its something you can point out to a new prospective owner thats been done if you decide to sell.

You can do it with the carbs in situ, but you might find it easier to remove them as this will get you better access to the plunger screws, which might be useful if they are seized up.

As Biker Biggles says, its important to have the right screwdriver for the job before you start.

If I can do it, anybody can. I'm far from mechnically minded, just take your time and dont rush it.

Do the plungers yourself. don't check the tappets, don't change the hoses. Total cost £3. Amount saved to go onto your next bike £347. You wont get the £350 cash back on resale because the tappets have been checked.

Hi everyone.. Went to spannerman (stewart) on the way home and booked the bike in next tues, top fella we chatted "stuff" for about 1.5hrs. I initially spoke with Steve jordans (sarah) who normally do my stuff, but I`m gonna give Stewart a go.

One thing about doing the plungers, especially if they are sticking, is when trying to get them out (especially the front one) they may well be rusted in position. So care needs to be taken when pulling them out so as not to do any damage to them assuming you are intending to use the same parts again once they are cleaned up.
