Part of my role at my last job was risk assessment, as said it's much better to avoid ppe where possible, much better to design the actual machinery and equipment with this in mind rather than rely on ppe.

Health and safety isn't the problem here... Jobsworth idiots with no idea are the problem. It's actually typical of the public sector. Jobsworths, idiots and having no idea that is.

I mean, if there was trees scattered around on the hill or a road or lake at the bottom I could understand it.
Ain't really a lot to go wrong is there?

And when the whole school would come out for break and have a massive snowball fight.I hate to think what dreadful things could have gone wrong. In fact I think I might sue my old teachers for the mental scarring and the cold I caught.

Absolutely ridiculous, some of my best memories of school in the '80's was the hands on/something different stuff that the H&S Nazi's would have apoplexy over now, working on old bangers in Motor Engineering, feeding animals in Agricultural Science and even learning a few culinary skills in Home Economics. Never got to sledge at school as when it snowed the coach that took us there was usually out of action when the diesel froze!

Although the girl who sledged into a wire fence and ripped her head off would disagree, if she could.

Passed on the rage then...

Don't get it. Unless it was a steep slalom course between trees with an iced over lake at the bottom?

No room for sensible spontaneity it seems. Then again I can remember our class being temporarily banned from playing Volleyball for PE Lessons after Jesus got knocked off the wall and snapped in half. (Them Anglicans) Nobody got fired or burned at the stake though.
