GSXR!!!

its a kawasaki my good sir

anyways, going by my recent history i'll have my work cut out not crashing for a change!!

(before i crashed my sv ,about a year earlier i did the same to the wifes cbr600f.)

By the way the sv is not a bad bike but was a step to far back for me after having a blade. It was the suspension that i could just not get on with(well and i was used to more power!)
That was after about ten years of keeping it rubber side down!!

Sorry I got another upgrade in a muddle with yours there, all these IL4s are all the same to me ...it was ravingdavis who went all 750 gsxr on us. But that's even worse you've changed make as well as model

For me the SV is my first bike and I know it's not all that, although is great fun never the less. I am sure I'll join your way of thinking someday but I figure I will keep mine for a while longer to get more practise/competent on a bike that isn't as good as the next one will be.

I'm also in two minds on going sports bike (zxr/gsxr/cbr) or all rounder (ktm smt) or naked big twin (tuono/duke)...and until I am more certain (currently ktm) I will stick with the sv.

why not try a ktm rc8, possibly the best of both worlds!
But as a new rider i think the sv is a great bike for you to learn on.
I have been riding a bit longer than you (passed my test in 91) and i still change my mind about what bikes i want all the time!
my history includes zzr 600's , zx 400 ,vfr 750 ,zxr750,cbr600's,sv650, cb1300,rd350lc,gsx550ef and a few more!!
My wife's just as bad and has just traded a er6f for a brand new cbr600rr!

Quite a list there...zx10 on the end of that now

I LOVE the RC8 but I think 1) I would kill myself (crash), 2) I would kill myself (posture) and 3) everyone would hear a crazy man giggle like a little child everytime he got close to his bike

Maybe if I have a garage any time soon I might entertain it but I would be sitting at the window guarding it right now...hell if I have sheltered bike accommodation and I can manage the funds I would love an RC8 and an SMT!

I am lucky in that i have a garage! Aswell as the zx10 to add to the list i left out my fireblade,gpz500s,rxs100.gp100 and the worst ever a piaggio fly100(the shame)
As far as killing yourself, you may find that big bikes are a lot more docile at low revs than you think! you can also leave it in a higher gear in the wet etc and just use the torque.
Comfort wise i found that the sv the most uncomfortable bike that i ever owned i am not saying that every one does but different bikes fit different people so when you do decide to change take lots of test rides!!

4) A ginger man should never get a bike that only looks good in orange.

Oh dear, be careful there Reeder, he may have ginger, but maybe because of his Viking blood. You could end up with a axe embeded in your skull
