It's not often I feel proud to know Andy, but I reckon this just about qualifies. Kinda.

Fcked if I'd do it, mind. Camping at Weston last October was bad enough - sheet ice outside the tents ffs, while everyone else there was cosily tucked up in a caravan.

Still, it's all a laugh. You coming along for some off-road high-jinks in Wales?

proper mental, no brakes and massive spikes.

Two MT500s went, one of them piloted by a poster from here called Skeetly (Mark Roberts), the other by a member of the ASLEF high command (National Comittee) called Simon Weller. All five of the miscreants who did this trip are friends or acquaintances of mine and Ogden's from a newsgroup called ukrm. I've known Andy since he was about 19, and he was as mental then as he is now he's a 52 year old grandad.

The Armstrongs proved to be quite suited to the trip when fitted with tyre studs for the iced roads.

I'm building up to the pride thing. I'll reserve that for when he sticks a Union flag in the lawn of the White House and claims America back for Queen and Country

I'm crap off-road so ought to go and improve my skills, but money is being diverted to my Spain Trip fund this year.

As far as I can tell from his photos on Facebook, the one he's captioned "My XT660" would suggest he didn't take his Armstrong.

Just spotted this thread!
I didn't take the armstrong in the end as the bloody endless kicking was doing my head in.
Still; Simons did sterling service; even if we did have to strip the carb' down in sub zero temperatures at the side of the road in the snow
The XT did the job though; started on the button and crashed quite nicely....
