I just did this to mine, for the very same reason.
So much easier without having the clutch switch to think about, although I do conciously check for the neutral light before hitting the starter now! |

This is your bikes way of telling you it wants to be stripped down for track riding - it doesnt want to be commuted anymore, it has smelt the fumes and excitement of real SV riding and will leave unannounced if you dont do it!!!!
 Oh, and it wants you to lose 2 stone!!! ha ha |
