yes they would be perfect
![]() parts list: Forks: Front Forks Lower Triple to match forks Axle + Upper and Lower Triple Pinch Bolts Top Yoke to match forks Steering Stem Bearings SV650 can be reused Steering Stem Upper Seal SV 650 can be reused Front Mudguard: Front Mudguard to match forks Front Mudguard Bolts Front Wheel: Front Wheel to match forks Front Wheel Spindle to match wheel Front Wheel Spacer Nut to match wheel Front Discs Front Disc Bolts x10 Front Tyre can re use SV650 Front Callipers: Front Callipers to match forks Front Calliper Bolts to match calliper Front Calliper Pads to match calliper Front Brake lines + fittings Bars Depending on what you want (as in rise) All the controls can be re used from the SV depending on what bars you go for. There are a couple of permutations for callipers and discs on the radial forks. For instance, if you use the GSXR 600-750 K4-5 forks you can use the later black callipers but you must use 320mm discs. GSXR-SV1000 front wheels are hard to get a hold of. But the good news is that Delkevic sell new ones fairly cheeply, but if you go that route then you will need to buy bearings, spacer and dust seals as well. the k6> top yokes as i recall have the ignition on the other side but there are other yokes that fit. its the bottom yoke that you will need to match with the K7 forks. i might be wrong though. |

Cool beans... this is all really helping. I've found a guy locally who's stripping down a k7 GSXR 1000 and selling it off as parts. If I buy the entire front end of that bike, (entire fork assembly/ wheel with brakes and all other paraphernalia) will that be an easy way of getting everything together and surely make the installation a lot easier?
And surely it will be enough for my 6 and a bit ft 15 stone thunder butt? |

yes m8 if you can get the whole lot in a 1'r its much easier. all you do is take the SV front end off and stick the GSXR one on. simples.
cppl things that might snag you are the bars. they might be to low. another is i dont know if the steering stem is the same as earlier years. if it is, your laughing. another is the ignitian lock is on the opposite side but there is a workaround for that. i'll have a looky later for you and find out for definite if the stem is the same. the k7 1000 should be about the same spring rate as the k7 750 so ideal for your weight. |

bearings are same so should go in without trouble. you will have to shave the ignition a but at the steering lock to get it to fit.

Awesome. Some more rookie questions though.
Am I right in thinking that I would need to up grade the rear shock to accommodate the upgraded front and is there any reason why these upgrades would affect wheel alignment. The guy who wants my SV front end is building an old Suzuki 500 2 stroke and I think he'll be happy to let me use his workshop and give me a hand for a price chop in my SV parts. Fingers crossed he wont send me away with a death trap. ![]() |

its advisable to upgrade the shockky, depending on how much you want to spend there are loads of options. cheapest being a GSXR shokky. dearest being an aftermarket one along the lines of Penske and Nitron. the aftermarket ones will start at around 360 and then going up very steeply after that. the aftermarket ones will be built to your weight though.
wheel alignment wont be affected. but you might see a drop in the front end which will make the bike 'tip in' faster. ooohhh dear an SV front end on an RG500. not good. you cant go wrong if you have a complete front end m8. its simples. i'd be more worried riding his bike lol. one other thing to note is that you will need some sort of speedo drive if you use the GSXR front end as it dont come with one and you cant use the SV one as its on the front wheel (the display is ok though and you dont need to change that). i'll PM you a solution if you like ![]() |

That would be cool. I'm thinking of an Elka 2 or 3 way rear shock from JHS racing, when it comes time for it.(After I've done some novice track days and I'm happy to put mine on the track) It'll be okay on the street for a while without the new shock though wont it?
I'm sure I read something briefly about someone running the speedo off the rear wheel. Wouldn't know how to do this though. |
